Victoria firmly believes that building a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship with the client is what truly fosters the resilience within that person to overcome the barriers they may be experiencing to a forward-moving mindset. Victoria received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. She also holds an Associate Mental Health Counselor License in the state of Rhode Island. Additionally, she received a double bachelor's degree in Chemical Dependency and Addiction Studies and Psychology, as well as a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience.
When Victoria began her career in mental health in 2018, she served adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders for several years until January of 2022, when she discovered her passion in the mental health field was working with youth and their families. Since then, Victoria has dedicated her therapeutic skills and knowledge to supporting diverse populations of youth and their families throughout Rhode Island.
Victoria uses a trauma-informed, solution-focused, and strengths-based approach to therapy with therapeutic interventions foundational to Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT/TF-CBT/CBT-E), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and EveryDay Parenting (EDP), individualized to each client’s specific needs. She brings a sense of genuineness paired with compassion and empathy to create a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic space for a client to feel heard.
She has experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families with a complex variety of challenges, such as eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety-related disorders and phobias, depression and mood disorders, self-harm, substance use, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and trauma-related disorders. She and the client work collaboratively to identify helpful coping skills that work best for the individual to reduce overall signs and symptoms of stress and/or distress, manage the regulation of thoughts and feelings, and create a sense of hope and curiosity in a time of uncertainty.
